CERT Volunteers: Download Disaster Reporter!
A picture is worth a thousand words. As we kick off the 2014 Hurricane Season, help us highlight the CERT program and demonstrate your capacity as citizens and trained volunteers to provide accurate, on-the-ground situational awareness and augment the capabilities of professional responders during disasters.
As a CERT volunteer, you play an integral role in disaster reporting in your community. Administrator Fugate is calling upon CERT volunteers throughout the country, including you, to download the FEMA mobile app, which includes Disaster Reporter.
Why should you use Disaster Reporter? Here are our top four reasons:
- It provides FEMA responders, local emergency managers, CERT volunteers, and the public with greater visibility into disaster situations across the United States. This can help expedite emergency response efforts.
- It provides a reliable source for viewing disaster events around the country.
- It’s a great free resource to download straight to your mobile phone.
- Your support efforts in an impacted area will be displayed publicly on an online map.
In addition to the Disaster Reporter tool, the FEMA App also has preparedness tips, an interactive emergency kit checklist, recovery safety tips, open Red Cross Shelters, open FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers, and FEMA blog posts. The app is available for Android, Apple, and Blackberry.

10% of all sales (including drinks) will go towards Piper's care on behalf of Quarterdeck when you mention Piper's name to your server.
On January 8, 2013, 3 year old Piper Apfel was diagnosed with Leukemia. She was immediately given blood and platelet transfusions, now she is receiving weekly chemotherapy. Both of her parents are Firefighter/Paramedics, Tim works for Davie Fire Rescue and Amanda for North Palm Beach Fire Rescue.

CERT Members Invited to PAL Events

The Davie Police Athletic League and The Davie Police Memorial Foundation invites you to a special event benefiting two great organizations.
The Event kicks off on January 12, 2013 with a Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction. Dinner begins at 5pm at Bamford Park Multi Purpose Bldg. 3800 SW 92 Ave Davie, Fl. Dinner includes spaghetti with home made sauce, salad, garlic rolls, drinks and desert. The 5K Run/Walk will take place on January 13, 2013 at Nova Southeastern University's Campus. There will be live bands along the course and the Dolphin Cheerleaders will be running to motivate you on your run. There is also a 100 yard dash for the kids. Not a runner, that's okay; walkers are always welcome. Race begins promptly at 8am
The cost of the race is $25 dollars and $10 dollars for the kids 100 yd dash. The price includes dinner.
Dinner only is available and costs $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for kids 6 and under.
