Ham Radio Training

Ham Radio is one of the most proven means of communications in times of disaster. Davie CERT uses Ham Radio as backup communications, and it's also useful for communicating with the Broward EOC. The Davie/Cooper City Amateur Radio Club offers periodic licensing classes.

SKYWARN® is a volunteer program with nearly 290,000 trained severe weather spotters. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service. Classes are available through the National Weather Service Miami/South Florida office. Check the list of upcoming SKYWARN classes.

Other Training Available

From time to time other training opportunities are available. For example, there is an annual South Florida Citizen Corps Conference. Watch the News section for dates!
